Since I bought my first flash (Canon 430 Ex II) I can't get enough of it! The strobist technique has made its way into almost all of my different shooting styles. I mainly do portraiture now but when I was starting out with photography I did a lot of sports and landscape work. Now I still enjoy those styles I just have a little different approach now. I've boarded and skied at Mt Spokane Ski and Snowboard park for years now and I don't think I have seen another photographer taking the strobist approach to their photography, especially during the day. Since a single Canon 430/580 might not be powerful enough to shoot in the middle of the day and really make that rider "pop" out like I want them to I decided to bring up one of my studio strobes. I used an Alien Bee B800 (Paul C Buff) and their Vagabond mini to power it. Transporting all the gear around that day was not as bad as I thought it would be and after seeing the photos when I got home all the work was worth it! I only had a little bit of time to shoot in the park but you can expect to see many more images like this from me in the near future. Please leave a comment down below if you would like to see some behind the scenes pictures and a few more details on the setup on these shots and maybe a look into my post processing.
Motocross Senior Pictures In Spokane Washington
I had so much fun shooting Ryan's Senior Pictures! We actually broke the shoot up into two days. First we started in more of an urban setting. There are so many different textures and backdrops to use in the downtown area! I never get sick of shooting down there. His second day I met him out at Airway Heights Motocross Park. We shot for roughly a hour and a half. I am beyond happy with how the images came out! I LOVE every single one of them. See for yourself!
